Intro…
Hey fam, since this is the first post on my blog, I would like to introduce myself.
It’s Bea Reyes here! Welcome to my blog! So… here we go! I am a proud FILIPINX who enjoys singing (OK haven’t done covers yet, which you’ll learn why I haven’t in these blogs.. but will be starting soon) content creating for myself and small businesses. SO… where do I begin? Long story short, I love singing and at the age of 14 I was offered a 5 year contract to sing in the Philippines. That was a rollercoaster experience that i would never take back! I learned so much and it makes me the person I am today.
After I finished my 5 year contract in the Philippines, I decided that I want to go back to school and that is what I did. I went to Cerritos College to finish all my GE’s. Once I finished, I applied to a various amount of universities and thank you Lord because in 2017, I was accepted to one of my dream schools Boston University and there I majored in broadcast journalism in hopes of becoming a host on a tv/news network. Now that was an experience I hold so dear because it was the first time that I was on my own. As a Filipino-American especially with traditional parents like mine, we are all so close and I was not used to being alone. But being alone made me appreciate my parents even more and more. I will say at 24 years of age, I learned and realized that it is not easy being on my own. But through the cold weather, depression, and long hours of work and school, I MADE IT! THANKS TO THE LOCAL COFFEE PLACES THTA FULED ME, LOL! So, in 2019 I graduated Boston University!
A week after I graduated, I was so blessed with the opportunity to work for local new station ABC7 and that is where I learned about everything and anything about the news; from behind the scenes to being on set. Let me tell this was just an absolute amazing experience! I give kudos to people who work for news networks because it is difficult. You have the pleasure of delivering great news to the viewers watching but also you have unfortunate events that you have to deliver too. TBH there were days I was honestly depressed coming in because I was taking in all different news from around the country that were so painful and it made me realize I still enjoy journalism but it’s a lot to take in where doing hard news. (hard news meaning topics that are usually timely, important, such as politics, international affairs and business news) Although I may have realized that I do not want to do hard news I am happy ABC7 opened my eyes that I would not to do hard news but I am absolutely open to doing soft news. (soft news meaning background information about world events, human interest stories or entertainment news. ... Examples include sports, celebrity news, or human interest stories that deal with emotions.
Presently, what am I doing? I am a content creator for myself and local/small businesses. It’s been great to be given the opportunity to use my creative juices to help other businesses owners with their content and social media platforms is actually rewarding and I love it! That’s all for now! I can’t wait for the many more blog to posts, CHEERS!
After I finished my contract, I wanted to go back to school
